INSPIRED, BRIAN SILBER (2001)----This recording represents a clear departure from Brian's previous projects. Includes a collection of wonderful (some are seldom heard) Brazilian JAZZ compositons, by legendary penmen Antonio Carlos Jobim, Manfredo Fest, and others. World class jazz pianist, and childhood friend, Louis Scherr, is producer, and adds stellar piano soloing throughout. Adding excellence to this recording are brothers, Alejandro and Leonardo Lucini (on drums and percussion, and bass, respectively), and several compositions with Don Wilner on bass and Tony Martucci on drums. Also included are "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", "Bluesette", and Brian's personal favorite (unaccompanied), and original composition---"Grace of a Lily". Kayla delivers a fine vocal performance on "YouTake My Breath Away." |
NOW'S THE TIME (2002)----Brian's and songwriter, Andy Gordon's third collaboration together. Recording began just prior to and following 9-11, over a nine month period. Personally, this recording has special meaning to Brian, who worked steadfastly and eagerly on this project relentlessly until complete (sometimes, there is just way too much inspiration in the air). Includes 12 original vocal compositions by Andy Gordon, again featuring Brian's elaborate string arrangements (violin, viola, baritone violin), extensive violin soloing throughout. Very easy listening. Brian sings on this one as well. Also proudly featured is Brian's daughter, Kayla, singing lead on two songs. | ||||||
